PRESS RELEASE

For Immediate Release

April 28, 2025 (Carbondale, Illinois) - Critically-acclaimed veteran pianist, producer, and educator Dr. Keith Javors will be returning to the Jacksonville area to perform and record on May 11-19, 2025.  Javors was a celebrated Associate Professor at the University of North Florida between 2000-2005, being key in revitalizing the award-winning jazz program under the recently-deceased and legendary alto saxophonist Bunky Green.  For four consecutive years, the UNF Jazz Ensemble, under Javors’ direction, swept the category of Best College Big Band, brought in numerous press accolades for their exceptional performance level, and played major jazz venues throughout the US and Europe.

The timing of the homecoming is exactly 20 years following Javors’ departure from UNF and decision to relocate to Philadelphia, where he founded Inarhyme Records and the Inarhyme Music Group, LLC., an highly-creative Indie imprint boasting several applauded recordings that feature somewhat of a “Who’s Who” in jazz music, such as Tom Harrell, Chris Potter, and the NDR Big Band in Hamburg, Germany.  The label is a former recipient of the “Best of Philly” Awards for Best Record Label from the Philadelphia Inquirer and was honored by the Chicago Tribune for its innovation in album recording, amongst other honors.

While in Jacksonville, Javors will perform at the Blue Jay Listening Room with saxophonist Kenny Hamilton, guitarist Taylor Roberts, bassist Stan Piper and drummer Stefan Klein on Monday, May 12 at 8pm. (Doors open at 7pm. For tickets, call 904.318.3020). During the week, he’ll be recording his eight full-length jazz recording of original music entitled Dare You To Move.  The new project will feature three musicians featured on Javors’ Mo’ City Jungle, released on Zoho in 2004 while Javors was in the area; Ray Callender, trumpet, Juan Carlos-Rollan, tenor saxophone, and Ricky Ravelo, bass.  The group will be rounded off by UNF Jazz Professor and alto saxophonist Todd Delgiudice, guitarist Taylor Roberts, and drummer Paulie Lentz.  The sextet will headline the Breezy Jazz Club in Jacksonville on Saturday, May 17th from 8pm to 11pm. (For tickets, call 904.454-4699).  Javors says, “I’m fond of the great music scene in Jax and a wonderful experience in the area.  I’m looking forward to seeing old friends and colleagues and trying to keep up with some exceptional musicians.”
